And then there were two. World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka will battle Coco Gauff in the Madrid final on Saturday.

What’s at stake in the pair’s 10th WTA meeting? We go inside the numbers below…

1 Two-time champion Sabalenka is the only woman to reach the Madrid final in three consecutive years.

2 At 21 years old, Gauff is the second youngest Madrid women’s singles finalist in history, behind only Caroline Wozniacki, who reached the final at 18 in 2009.

4 Sabalenka has already tied Simona Halep for most Madrid women’s singles finals all-time by reaching her fourth Madrid final.

7 Sabalenka is making her seventh appearance at Madrid and has compiled a 22-4 lifetime record in the Spanish capital. Gauff makes her fifth appearance, and had never been beyond the round of 16 prior to this year.

8 Sabalenka owns eight WTA 1000 titles (8-4), While Gauff is 2-0 in WTA 1000 finals.

9 Of their nine previous meetings, only one of Gauff’s matches with Sabalenka was played on clay. Gauff won in Rome in 2021, 7-5, 6-3.

10 Sabalenka has won all ten sets she has played thus far this year in Madrid. Oddly, Gauff was bageled in her first set of the tournament but has since won ten sets on the trot. 11 Gauff is bidding for her 11th career title.

12 Gauff started the week at No.12 in the Race to Shenzhen standings, but is now up to No.6.

20 Sabalenka is bidding for her 20th career title, and third on clay. Her only two clay titles have come in Madrid (2021 and 2023).

30 Sabalenka leads the WTA with 30 wins against just five losses in 2025. 39 Per OptaAce, Sabalenka has saved 39 break points in Madrid through five rounds. It’s the most break points that any WTA players has saved in a single tournament in 2025.

49 Gauff ranks 49th on the WTA Tour in percentage of break points saved in 2025. Sabalenka, meanwhile, ranks No.1.

2013 Gauff is bidding to become the first American woman to win in Madrid since Serena Williams completed her title defense in 2013.
