Djokovic Records 99th Roland-Garros Win

Paris – While Paris was going bonkers for it’s belove Paris Saint-Germain football club on Saturday night, Novak Djokovic was taking care of business on Court Philippe-Chatrier.

The 24-time major champion would have preferred to watch Saturday’s Champions League final, but he was called to duty instead, and defeated Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 at the same time bedlam was breaking out around Paris after PSG defeated Inter Milan 5-0 for its first Champions’ title.

Djokovic recorded his 99th Roland-Garros victory and set a round of 16 clash with Cameron Norrie on Tuesday, as he stretched his current winning streak to seven.

The 38-year-old has yet to drop a set in Paris, but he hasn't faced a player ranked higher than No.73.

Djokovic, who claimed his 100th career title last week in Geneva, will bid to become the second player to win 100 career matches in Paris, along with Rafael Nadal who won 112.

He earned 16 break points against the World No.153, and created four as he reached the round of 16 at Roland-Garros for the 19th time.

Djokovic has now recorded 20 consecutive wins on the Parisian clay, and 14 straight at Roland-Garros. He has not lost on the Parisian clay since 2022. He won the title in 2023, then had to retire prior to the quarterfinals last year. Later in the summer he won six more matches in Porte d’Auteuil to win Olympic gold.

This year he has added three more to his tally. The last man to beat him was Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinals three years ago. 

The Grand Slam king, who also owns 99 wins at the Australian Open, has never won triple digits at any Grand Slam.
