Going to Shenzhen: 2025 BJK Cup Qualifier Champions

Five of six group winners from this weekend’s Billie Jean King Cup qualifying ties have advanced to the 2025 Finals – with USA vs Slovakia to decide the sixth – where they will compete alongside the 2024 world champions Italy and hosts China. The 2025 Finals will take place in Shenzhen, China, in September.

Here are this weekend’s qualifying group winners:

Group A: Japan Ousts Canada

Victoria Mboko and Moyuka Uchijima earned wins for their countries to set up Sunday’s doubles decider. Mboko topped Ena Shibahara 6-4 6-7(8) 7-5, with Moyuka Uchijima then defeating Marina Stakusic 6-3 6-3 to level the tie.

Shibahara and Shuko Aoyama then defeated Kayla Cross and Rebecca Marino, 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 to send Japan to the finals. Group B: Spain Advances with Win over Czechia

Jessica Bouzas Maneiro locked up the victory by defeating Linda Noskova to send Spain, captained by Carla Suarez Navarro, through to the finals over 11-time BJK Cup champion Czechia. Cristina Bucsa set the table by taking out Marie Bouzkova, 7-5, 6-1. Group C: USA vs Slovakia

Group D: Kazakhstan Prevails

Elena Rybakina sealed Kazakhstan’s place in the 2025 Billie Jean King Cup Finals in Shenzhen, China with a 6-1 6-2 win against Yuliana Lizarazo. Yulia Putintseva, a BJK Cup stalwart, was also victorious in Kazakhstan’s win over Colombia. Group E: Ukraine Goes Through

Elina Svitolina put Ukraine in the final with a victory over Jil Teichmann of Switzerland on Saturday. It is Ukraine’s first ever trip to the BJK Cup finals. “I’m very proud of all the team to bring us to the Finals," Svitolina said after clinching her team’s trip to the final. "We’ve been waiting so long for this moment, to play there, and try to have a chance to win the [BJK] Cup. Group F: Boulter, Burrage Lead Britain to Finals

Katie Boulter and Jodie Burrage came up clutch in the deciding doubles match against the Netherlands, defeating Suzan Lamens and Demi Schuurs, 6-2, 6-2. The teams had split the two singles rubbers, with Sona Kartal topping Eva Vedder before Suzan Lamens upset Katie Boulter.
