Kokkinakis Undergoes Surgery

Surgery has derailed Thanasi Kokkinakis—and he's hoping it's a key to getting his health back on track.

The 28-year-old Kokkinakis announced he's undergone surgery to repair a pectoral injury and is currently recovering.

Kokkinakis posted an image of himself in a hospital bed, his right arm in a sling and his left hand offering a thumbs up, after the surgery.

"Been struggling for a little while with this," Kokkinakis posted. "Probably my toughest challenge to date. I’ve been trying to find the answers to an ongoing Pec injury that I haven’t been able to fix.

"Let’s see how this goes."

Aussie Davis Cup hero Kokkinakis withdrew from the Adelaide quarterfinals last month due to injury.

Battling Britain's Jack Draper in a five-set loss at the Australian Open, Kokkinakis aggravated the pectoral injury and was forced out of the AO doubles with buddy Nick Kyrgios.

Last fall, a resurgent Kokkinakis won the Sydney Challenger and posted Davis Cup victories over Arthur Fils and Ben Shelton, but the recurring pectoral injury struck again last month.
