It was a day of milestones for some of the ATP’s hottest players in Rome.
Jack Draper stormed to his 14th Masters 1000 win of the season – and his 100th career win – with a 6-4, 6-3 win over Vit Kopriva. It was a challenging battle for the British No.1. The World No.5 let his frustrations out during trying times, and afterwards he admitted that the demands of having such a successful season can wear him thin at times.
“I was trying to get my energy up a little bit from the start,” Draper said. “I was a bit flat today, but I thought I did a really good job of competing hard throughout the match.” Regarding his frustrations, Draper said:
“I’m human. It’s tough, I’ve been mentally and physically on for the last three weeks. They are not easy now, these two-week Masters events, playing match after match, especially if you go deep. There are days when you feel really tired and days when you don’t, but on the days when you feel tired it’s tough to stay there mentally every point. I got a bit frustrated today – I don’t condone it, but I did well to come through and I’m proud of the way I fought.”
Musetti Gets Career Win No.150
Lorenzo Musetti is tied with Draper for the most Masters 1000 wins in 2025, and with his 6-4, 6-3 win over Brandon Nakashima he recorded his 150th ATP win and became the third-fastest Italian to reach that number of wins since 1990. Only Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini have done it faster. Musetti is 20-4 on clay since the start of his run to the Olympic bronze medal in Paris last year. He will face Daniil Medvedev in the round of 16.
Alexander Zverev also cracked a milestone on Sunday. The defending Rome champ recorded his 150th Masters match win, which makes him the 12th player to achieve the feat. The German took out Lithuanian qualifier Vilius Gaubas, 6-4, 6-0, and moved into sixth place on the all-time Masters 1000 clay-court win list (65-21).
Zverev will face Frenchman Arthur Fils in the round of 16.
