Marc-Andre Fleury, the legendary netminder who is destined for the Hockey Hall of Fame in the coming years, hung up his skates at the end of last season. It was an emotional rollercoaster to see teams say their goodbyes to the 40-year-old netminder.
But, apparently on July 1, when free agency opened, there were at least five teams wondering if Fleury would forego his decision and actually come back to play next season.
While the Minnesota Wild were likely not one of them, as they try out the Filip Gustavsson-Jesper Wallstedt tandem heading into next season, it is interesting to see just how desperate some teams are for stable goaltending.
