Stefanos Tsitsipas stretched his Monte-Carlo winning streak to eight, and logged his 50th career Masters 1000 win on clay, with a 6-1 6-1 thrashing of Portugal’s Nuno Borges on Thursday at Monte-Carlo.

The three-time champion has now won 19 of his last 20 matches in the Principality, having only been defeated by Taylor Fritz in the quarterfinals in 2023 since he started his first of three title runs in 2021.

Tsitsipas, who will face Lorenzo Musetti in Friday’s quarterfinal round, is now one of six players to have reached the last eight in five consecutive seasons, and he’s also the fifth active player to have recorded 50 or more wins on the clay at Masters events. He improved to 23-3 lifetime at Monte-Carlo with Thursday’s dominant effort, which featured 21 winners to just three for Borges.

“I know I have scored some good wins here, I know I have played some good tennis,” said Tsitsipas. “I am coming back onto this court and wanting to do more and wanting to accept these new challenges as they present themselves.”

The Greek has displayed an uptick in form in 2025, winning the Dubai title after switching to a new racquet and stringset. He has carried that confidence from the hard courts to the clay.

“I am trying to take it match by match,” Tsitsipas said. “I’ve obviously had my share of good moments on Court Central in Monte-Carlo, but I want to create way more beyond that – I want to leave my mark on the court as much as possible, and hoping to play better tomorrow against Lorenzo, who is a great clay court player.”
