Iga and the Danimal on Centre
The bad blood between these two dynamos is surely still lingering, after Collins went on the attack against Swiatek, calling her out for what she perceived to be gamesmanship at the Olympics last year. Collins called Swiatek “insincere” at the time – she was no doubt fed up that she had just suffered her sixth consecutive defeat at the hands of the Pole.
This spring, Collins took Swiatek out in Rome, a surprise to say the least, and the pair will meet for the tenth time on Saturday with a spot in the second week at Wimbledon on the line.
A tough draw for Swiatek, and the winner will have to face either Elena Rybakina or Clara Tauson next, so things won’t get easier, but the Pole has played some of her best grass-court tennis of her career in these last few weeks, reaching the final at Bad Homburg and now reaching the third round at Wimbledon for the fifth consecutive year. Let the best woman win.
Pick: Collins in three as the upsets continue on the women’s side.
Shelton vs Fucsovics
Ben Shelton is a bad man on the big stage and he’s shown that time and time again. In 2025 he’s 10-2 at the majors – and his only losses have been to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz.
He’ll face Hungarian Marton Fucsovics on Saturday as he bids to reach the second week at SW19 for the second consecutive year. 2021 quarterfinalist Fucsovics has had to do things the hard way this year. Ranked 105, he qualified, and he’s won back-to-back five-setters, over Aleks Kovacevic and Gael Monfils, to reach the third round.
Pick: Shelton in four, as Fucsovic’s energy dissipates down the stretch.
Tauson vs Rybakina
If you like the purity of first-strike tennis on grass, tune into this battle of heavyweights on No.2 Court. 2022 champion Elena Rybakina against fast-rising Clara Tauson has the makings of a shootout.
Tauson, seeded 23, had lost her three previous matches at Wimbledon prior to this year. But she’s a more confident player in 2025, having earned a win over world No.1 Aryna Sabalenka and won 26 of 39 matches.
Pick: Rybakina in three sets
Enjoy.
